Rail Planet ships with sixteen maps, from real-world cities to the Moon. Each one is built around a single idea — a city to drive through, a canyon to fly over, a sky to float in. Here is a quick tour to help you pick your next destination.

City maps
Seoul (seoul_city)
A Korean city with the Han River running through it and Namsan Tower as the landmark. The tower is protected — you cannot destroy it, but you can ride it, and at night it cycles through colored lighting. Roads have proper lane markings and small drivable cars.
Manhattan, New York (manhattan_city)
The default first map. You spawn in the middle of Central Park, with the Statue of Liberty on its own island, Brooklyn bridges crossing the river, and the Empire State Building standing alone as a landmark. All three landmarks are protected and glow at night. Mobile devices run this map with reduced render distance because of the building density.

Nature maps
Daegwallyeong Grassland (daegwallyeong_grass)
The classic green grassland map — open, gentle, and good for relaxed play.
Everest Alpine Meadow (everest_meadow)
High-altitude meadow terrain. Deliberately avoids excessive snow mountains: the feel is alpine grass, not glacier.
Iceland Volcano (iceland_highland)
Roughly one quarter of the map is black volcanic highland with magma-filled valleys; the rest is green lowland. Dinosaurs roam the lowlands, ancient insects can climb onto the plateau, and pterosaurs share the sky. The only map where insects get the "ancient" prefix.

Dubai Dunes (dubai_dunes)
Desert and sand dunes — an open, rolling map with very different light.
Amazon Wetland (amazon_wetland)
About forty percent water, bean trees, and ten kinds of waterside vegetation. The wettest map in the game.
Alps Meadow (alps_meadow)
Mountain pasture with frequent peaks kept under control — alpine scenery without wall-to-wall mountains.
Sahara Canyon (sahara_canyon)
Canyon and desert rock. Vertical walls and long sightlines.
Jeju Hallasan (jeju_oreum)
Hallasan dominates the map with black volcanic soil; only the top ~20% is snow-capped. The rest is green Jeju slopes.
Antarctic Tundra (antarctic_tundra)
Polar tundra and ice fields — the coldest, quietest map.
Grand Canyon (grand_canyon)
A huge red-rock canyon. If you want scale, this is the map.
Maldives Atoll (maldives_atoll)
Sea, islands, and coastline. The water map, built around the horizon.
Exotic maps
Neon Plateau (neon_plateau)
An unreal neon highland — pure stylized color, no real-world reference.
Moon Crater (moon_crater)
Black space sky, sunlit grey plains, and craters. No atmosphere, no weather — just light on grey ground.

Alien Saturn (alien_saturn)
A Saturn-ring sky over a red desert with gas vents. Intentionally lifeless: no creatures, just landscape and sky.
Where should you start?
Manhattan is the intended first map — it teaches landmarks, protected objects, and city navigation in one place. After that:
- Want nature? → Daegwallyeong or Iceland Volcano.
- Want spectacle? → Grand Canyon or Moon Crater.
- Want something no real place looks like? → Neon Plateau or Alien Saturn.
Every map follows the same global rules: near terrain and far LOD share the same formulas (no gaps on the horizon), and every map's deepest layer is unbreakable magma bedrock.
Frequently asked questions
Q. How many maps does Rail Planet have?
Sixteen: two city maps, twelve nature maps, and two exotic worlds.
Q. Which map loads first?
Manhattan is the default map. You spawn in Central Park.
Q. Which map is the heaviest to run?
Manhattan, because of the building count. On mobile it automatically runs with reduced render distance to stay playable.
Q. Can I destroy the landmarks like the Statue of Liberty or Namsan Tower?
No. Major landmarks are protected on every map, but you can usually ride or climb them instead.
